Mary Sandra Grand Dahl (Sissy)
August 15, 1938 - May 8, 2020
Sissy was the granddaughter of August and Annie Grand and the second child of Freddie and Madeline Grand’s five children. She was a much loved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend.
After a long hospital stay due to several critical conditions, our brave Sissy passed away at home, her immediate family with her. It wasn’t easy getting her out of the hospital due to the COVID19 situation, but her wonderful son-in-law, Scott Connelly, managed to move the mountains it took to do it so they could all be together.
Even though she had severe health challenges over the last 40 years, Sissy always had a warm and loving welcome for her family and friends. She was a person of great kindness, generosity, and acceptance of others as they are. She loved words, writing poetry, oil painting, food, get-togethers, music, and dancing (also Starbucks, and The Property Brothers 😊).
Her quiet specialness and the open-hearted appreciation and support she gave to us all will be sorely missed.
Sissy’s children: Dean and Sue Dahl of Escondido, Kerri and David Boardman of Colorado, and Denise and Scott Connelly of Oceanside.
Sissy’s siblings: Eleanor Grand Bowen (Nita), Julie Grand Biesty, Candace Grand Stanner, Frederick Grand
Due to the COVID19 situation her memorial service will be postponed.
