Basket Ideas
Just in case you're stumped as to how to build a basket for the raffle at this years reunion, here are a few ideas (these are just suggestions - make your basket uniquely you). IMPORTANT: Be sure to make a list of what is included in your basket and who created it. The list will be displayed next to your basket so ticket holders know what’s in it:
  • First off, choose a theme and run with it, have fun with it. Get creative. Build your basket as an individual family or as a family branch. Get your whole family involved - have each individual family in your branch contribute something for the basket.
  • Make it unique. Try to include at least one unique or focus item.  It doesn't have to be expensive, just special or homemade or funny, etc. Make your container (basket) part of  your gift - it doesn't have to be an actual basket, it could be a cooler, a bucket, even a lawn chair.
  • Beach basket:  fill a beach bag with towels, sunscreen, beach toys, sunglasses, flip flops, water bottles, water-proof cases, etc.
  • Ladies spa basket:  filled with fancy soaps, lotions, facial mask, plush facial towels, fragrances, candles, nail polish & remover, etc.
  • Wine & cheese basket: fill a picnic basket with wines, cheeses, fancy crackers, wine bottle opener, wine glasses, cheese cutting board, etc.
  • Breakfast basket:  filled with pancake mix, fancy syrups, a griddle, a spatula, coffee, coffee mugs, oranges, cereal, danish, etc.
  •  Italian food basket:  fill a stainless steel colander with pasta, a jar of marinara sauce, parmesan cheese, a nice kitchen towel, spices, wooden spoons, fancy olives, garlic, olive oil, a garlic press, cheese grater, etc.
  • Movie night basket:  filled with DVDs, movie theater gift cards, popcorn, a popcorn bowl or bucket, a cozy throw, theater style boxed candies, glass bottles of soda, etc.
  • Family game night basket:  fill with a few board games, decks of playing cards,  a 2 minute timer, candies, nuts, etc.
  • Regional basket:  filled with items specifically from the area you come from.  Fancy food items, gift items, a map of the area, maybe include a nights stay at a lodge/hotel, etc.
  • Heirloom basket:  Maybe you have an abundance of  old Grand family photos and memorabilia that you don't want hidden away in a dusty old box in the garage but you'd like others to get to enjoy it.  Or, maybe you just want to make copies of the old photos you have so other family members can have the pleasure of viewing them too - make a basket with them.  Fill your basket with any vintage Grand family items that you would like to pass on for someone else to treasure.  Be sure to mark the items or include a list stating  who is in the photos or who the items belonged to.
  • Ice Cream Sundae basket:  fill with sundae cups or bowls, spoons, cones, fancy toppings, fudge sauce, nuts, sprinkles, etc.
  • Kids art basket:  fill with crayons, markers, colored pencils, water color paints, brushes, chalks, stencils, sponges, scissors, paper, canvas', etc.
  • Garden Basket:  use a coiled (zip tied together) garden hose for the basket, filled with seed packets, small plants, garden gloves, small garden tools - trowels, clippers, hose spray nozzle,  etc.
  • Camping basket:  fill a cooler with folding chairs, sunscreen, bug spray, flashlights, headlamps, enamelware camp dishes, mess kit, canteen, lantern, small propane bottles, maps, small folding shovel , s'mores supplies, roasting forks, pie irons, etc.
  • As seen on TV basket:  You get the idea - stuffed full of "As Seen on TV" items.
  • Mancave basket:  fill a bucket full of guy stuff, tape measure, WD40, duct tape, fishing supplies,  car care stuff, tools, etc.
  • Gift Cards:  take a large picture frame, cover the inside with paper (colored, scrapbook, or wrapping paper), attach gift cards with 2-sided tape to the paper, put the frame back together.
  • Sports basket:  Include baseball stuff, football stuff, soccer, volleyball, etc.
Just be creative and have fun with it.  We can't wait to see what you come up with.
Keep in mind that prizes will be awarded for the most creative or unique baskets.
